What is Cannabis?
Their are 3 known species of the Cannabis plant, Cannabis Sativa, Cannabis Indica, and Cannabis Ruderalis. Cannabis Hemp and Marijuana are the two most popular Cannabis plants.
History of Cannabis?
Cannabis has many known properties and for that reason is considered to be one of the most versatile plants on earth. For thousands of years, civilizations throughout the world used Cannabis plants for food, shelter, clothing, writing material, energy and more. It wasn't until 1937 when a politician by the name of Harry J. Anslinger persuaded Congress to enact the Marijauana Tax Act which ultimately led to the criminalization of all Cannabis plants throughout the world.
Hemp vs. Marijuana
Just like an Orange is different in make-up and function than a lemon, so too with Cannabis Hemp and Cannabis Marijuana. The big difference between the two is Cannabis Hemp is non-psychoactive, so it won't get you stoned or high, but Cannabis Marijuana will.
Hemp
Cannabis Hemp contains a lot of the compound CBD and small fractions of the psychoactive compound THC. In reality, less than 1% of the Industrial Hemp plant contains THC. This small fraction of THC is insignificant when it comes to having a psychoactive effect on the user.
Marijuana
Cannabis Marijuana will get you stoned or high because it contains high amounts of THC. This is why Cannabis Marijuana is illegal without a medical card, or unless you live in a state that allows recreational Marijuana. What is CBD?
CBD is 1 of 113 natural compounds found in Cannabis Hemp. CBD is shown to be non-psychoactive which means it won't get you high. Surprisingly, our bodies are equipped with a system that creates and uses cannabinoids to establish homeostasis within the body. This system is called the Endocannabiboid system and it exist in all living animals.
What is the Endocannabinoid system?
Sometimes the body can fall out of balance for several reasons including because of the food and beverages we eat, lack of exercise, the environment that we are exposed to and even physical and emotional trauma. The body's ECS produces Endocannabinoids (Endo = Inside) to help us function during stressful times.
What are Phytocannabinoids?
Sometimes the body is deficient in cannabinoids making it difficult for us to manage stress. In this case, cannabis plants (Phyto = Plant) cannabinoids can be used to assist the ECS when it is deficient in cannabinoids. Cannabis plants have concentrated amounts of cannabinoids. How does the Endocannabinoid System work?
The ECS consist of a network of receptors attached to cells that are located in the brain, immune system, nervous system and peripheral system. The ECS produces cannabinoids when we are stressed. The endocannabinoids react with the ECS receptors to restore balance to the cells. When the ECS cells are balanced, the body can function the way it's supposed to.
Will CBD get me high?
CBD is known for being non-psychoactive and will not get you high. In fact, it is considered extremely safe and will counteract the psychoactive or stoned feeling you get from THC.
CBD VS THC
Both are compounds found within the cannabis plants and both are unique because they bind to G-protein receptors and unlock cells. CBD
CBD modulates or restores balance to the cells located throughout the ECS. Homeostasis is established when all cells in the ECS are balanced and working properly.
THC
Is responsible for the psychoactive or stoned feeling you get from cannabis. It's often used by those who have chronic illness or chronic disease and need help to manage with loss of appetite and pain sensations.
Will I fail a drug test using CBD?
Drug test look for THC, not CBD. However; Full Spectrum Hemp CBD contains small traces of THC which may show up on a drug test. Pure CBD, Broad Spectrum CBD or CBD Isolate with Zero THC is an option for those who are drug tested.
How does CBD make you feel?
Simply put, most people say CBD reduces stress and brings a sense of calmness and clarity. It's widely known that stress can lead to many health problems. The ECS is responsible for reducing stress, so that you feel and function normally.
