A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP -
NATURAL LATEX
VS. MEMORY FOAM

The lure of a restful, healthful night's sleep, which, for so many seems just out of reach, is prompting consumers to investigate different options. Today, more and more people are making the switch from traditional mattresses to memory foam and latex foam mattresses.

Memory foam and latex foam mattresses are designed to mold to every part of a person's body evenly making it optimal for every sleep position: back, stomach or side. Many people with arthritis, back problems, fibromyalgia and long-term or chronic injuries find relief from memory foam and latex foam mattresses. The nature of the memory and latex foam allows the spine to stay in a neutral position and individually supports each part of the body. This greatly reduces pressure points and helps to eliminate nightly tossing and turning, thus promoting a more restful night's sleep. With better sleep comes less fatigue, less insomnia, better breathing while asleep and less pain. Many chiropractors recommend memory foam and latex foam mattresses to improve the overall health of their patients.

Memory Foam and latex foam mattresses hold many of the same benefits: comfort, motion transfer reduction, increased lifespan of the mattress, favorable pressure distribution, ease of movement and both have hypoallergenic properties. So how do consumers decide which is right for them--memory foam or latex foam?

Memory foam mattresses are, by nature, softer and more pliable than latex mattresses. Memory foam mattresses typically sleep "hotter" than latex foam mattresses; as a person sleeps, their body temperature warms up the foam making it softer and creating a warmer sleeping surface. The manufacturing process of memory foam is chemically derived and also incorporates a lot of air. Over time memory foam mattresses will break down quicker than latex foam mattresses. But the bottom line is memory foam mattresses are substantially less expensive than latex foam mattresses and that might just give a person enough peace of mind to make their decision. However, many consumers these days are looking for something more.

The continuously rising interest in "green" living doesn't end at the supermarket or with alternative fuel transportation. More and more people are searching for ways to live healthier and greener from the different ways they use energy to the clothes they put on their backs. We spend roughly a third of our lives sleeping so it makes sense that people would be attracted to "green" mattress options. Latex foam mattresses offer that option.

A latex mattress is very much a "green" product in that it is both all-natural and is a sustainable material. And while both memory foam and latex foam mattresses have hypoallergenic properties, only latex foam mattresses are naturally resistant to dust mites. A typical innerspring mattress may have anywhere from 100,000 to 10 million dust mites lurking and living and thriving inside! Latex and memory foam mattresses make it nearly impossible for dust mites to create a habitat in which they can survive and dust mites will never be able to feed in a latex foam mattresses making their survival impossible. Natural latex is also breathable and it is not temperature or weight sensitive, eliminating the feelings of "melting" into the mattress or "sleeping hot."

By reputation and recommendation, memory foam and latex foam mattresses have become increasingly popular because they offer a uniquely comfortable and restful night's sleep. Both kinds of mattresses deliver; both offer many of the same appealing qualities. But for those looking for an all-natural mattress product and unparalleled, top of the line comfort and support during sleep, 100% all-natural latex foam mattresses just can't be beat.
