Most stores only carry a few vegan products, so we were driving all around just to buy the products we liked. One unique treat we stumbled on was vegan jerky - "Vegan Jerky? What!" After doing some digging on the internets, we realized there are tons of meat alternatives that aren’t available locally. We always call these products "fake meats".
If stores have fake meats, it’s typically 1 or 2 brands and they definitely don’t have all the available flavors from that brand. So we decided to get all of these products together in one location, and make them available to everyone through the internet. We went with the most obvious name for our business – FakeMeats.com.
We sell a huge selection of veggie jerky, meat substitutes, veggie burgers, egg replacers, vegan sauces, and even specialty items like tofu presses that may be difficult to find in your local stores. We also have specialty categories to make it easier to search and sort for your diet: vegan, gluten free, soy free, kosher, and more.
Over the past year, we started getting these products into stores locally around the Chicago area. Our commercial distribution business started in 2014, and we already have a large network of stores around Chicago carrying fake meats. If your local Chicago grocer doesn’t carry these products, tell the grocery manager!
Vegans and vegetarians aren’t limited to kale, beans, and quinoa anymore. With all of these fantastic meat-free foods available, it's hard for anyone to say "I would go vegan, but I love xyz too much."
