Mt. Tom
Posted by Will Alvarez
After it had rained a little on Mt. Tom
And the summer flash of lightning
Moved off to other hills
We turned our steps back down the dark path
Where we'd come to the crest
Only for the view of town
--The huge rising moon was a gift--
Letting our feet find the way
Down the long corridor of shadows
Until we'd reached the gravel where we'd begun,
Out of a soft summer dream
We're brought into the mute phosphorescent blink
Of fireflies
