The White House
Washington, D.C. 20500
We, the undersigned business, environmental, and energy policy organizations, are writing to urge your support for the employment of a mix of renewable energy and energy efficient technologies at the White House and the new park to be developed between Lafayette Park and the north side of the White House.
In particular, we propose:
1.) The use of solar powered stand-alone lamp posts at the park and solar powered pavilion kiosks and displays at the park.
2.) To solar power the lighting on the flagpole on top of the White House.
3.) To install solar thermal collectors on top of the West Wing of the White House, replacing the collectors installed by President Carter and subsequently removed by President Reagan.
There are a number of reasons for acting on these recommendations.
First, it would graphically demonstrate your Administration's continuing commitment to environmentally-friendly technologies in general and sustainable energy in particular.
Second, it would showcase emerging American-made technologies that not only can help meet domestic energy demand but also help create new jobs at home while creating new international markets for U.S. products.
Third, it would clearly illustrate to the many visitors to the nation's capital that renewable energy technologies to meet the nation's energy needs are now commercially available and cost-effective.
We would welcome an opportunity to meet with you or your designated representatives to discuss this proposal further.
Sincerely,
The Solar Campaign

Please copy the above and send it to the President with your name.
