CITRUS: A NON-TOXIC
HOUSEHOLD CLEANING ALTERNATIVE
What's the Big Deal About a Couple of Orange Peels? In today's world of "better living through chemistry", the natural properties of citrus come shining through the chemical fog. The natural cleaning properties of citrus were recognized by your great grandmother. Many recipes for cleaning compounds containing citrus can be found in old cook books. It wasn't until the 1960's that citrus cleaners began to play a larger role in business & industry.
The use of citrus based products has come about because the U.S. EPA and OSHA has encouraged the use of less toxic solvents in industry, thereby helping acceptance of citrus cleaners. If you take an orange peel and squeeze it, clear drops come from the peel. This is orange 'oil'. It is very flammable in this form. This helps make it a good solvent. Citrus based products are safer to be around than most petrochemical solvents and do a good job of replacing many of these solvents.
What Can You Do With Citrus Cleaners?
You can degrease your stove. Clean up that oil that leaked on the driveway. Remove those 'mystery' stains from your carpets. Clean the bugs off your windshield. Use it in your laundry instead of chlorine bleach. Mop your floor. Wash the car. Remove that gum that got ground into your car mats. Clean the bath tub. Clean your toilet bowl. Remove paint. Clean your boat. Great on Fiberglass. Remove anything sticky and so much more.
